Jury Department

The Jury Duty Department is responsible for the random selection and management of jurors for service in the 23rd Judicial District Court in Ascension Parish. A jury pool is impaneled for all civil and/or criminal cases scheduled for trial during a given week.

The judges of the 23rd Judicial District Court establish the guidelines for the number of prospective jurors required for civil and criminal jury panels. A judge of the Court is the sole authority empowered to excuse an individual from jury service.
